INTRODUCTION

The BOYO STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (BO.ST.AS.) has as main objective enhancing Education among Boyo youths as we belief in the saying that HE WHO TURNS HIS BACK FROM EDUCATION IS INVITING POUVERTY TO HIS HOME.

This document is an information guide about some higher institutions of learning within the national territory ,be them Professional, General ,of Direct or Indirect employment. The University of Douala which is basically a professional training institute is more detailed . This is in a bide to enable you make a decision on what to study , why study and where to study.

The document will also serve as an orientation guide to choosing a career while going in for the GCE O/L and A/L, PROBATOIRE and BAC , University and Other studies.

One will also find herein some Companies and what it takes to be recruited there .

Normally we have started with the university of Dla which is the sit of BOSTAS Douala.

THE UNIVERSITY OF DOUALA.

It comprises :

FMBS.

I ENSET (Advanced Teachers Training College for Technical Education )

The Advanced Teachers Training College for Technical Education known by it’s French acronym as ENSET was created in 1979 and trains teachers of Technical Education .

It is organised into the 1st CYCLE (3years); 2nd CYCLE (2 years) and a DOCTORAT cycle .

Leaving the first cycle is awarded the Technical Teachers Grade I Certificate (DIPET I) while leaving the second cycle is awarded the Technical Teachers Grade II Certificate (DIPET II). Graduates are integrated into the Public Service as Category A1 and A2 respectively .

ENSET also harbours the Evening Classes (Cours de Promotion Social) . At the end of the training candidates go in for the BTS qualifying them for job market .

II ESSEC ( Higher School of Economic Sciences and Business Management)

This is the first ever Faculty of the University of DOUALA and is noted for training more than 75% of MANAGERS and DIRECTORS nationwide .

Admission is by competitive entrance exams. However ,evening classes are offered workers to better off their qualifications . The school offers the following :

Accounting and Financing ;

Marketing ;

Auditing and Control ;

Human Resources Management

International Management and External Commerce (International Transport and Logistics)

Management in Information Systems .

This institution offers a four year course which leads to a matricein any of the above fields. The entry conditions in this case are;

GCE A/L in Economics and Mathematics

BAC G1, G2, G3

All the industrial students with A/L and Bac Technical are not eligible.

Upon completing this cycle, the student may continue with the Doctorate cycle (DEA) which may be a two or more years programme depending on the individual .

III FLSH , FS.

The faculties of Arts and Sciences have the same portfolios the oser state Universities.

VII IUT ( University Institute of Technology )

. ACADEMIC ORGANISATION

This comprises a normal school system (where admission is by a competitive entrance exams) and an evening classes system (admission is by application ) . Graduates from this institute constitute the work force in the Economic Capital and elsewhere. In fact this institution acts as an intermediary between the university and the companies or enterprises according to job exigencies.

Studies are organized here in three cycles with each of them aimed at obtaining a given diploma .
